Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) in British Columbia are healthcare professionals committed to restoring and maintaining optimal health for their patients, focusing on the musculoskeletal and related systems of the body. They are educated to assess and treat using a wide range of techniques such as manual therapy, joint mobilization, hydrotherapy, rehabilitative exercise, and patient education.
Increasingly, scientific research shows that massage therapy is an effective approach to injury management, rehabilitation, and prevention, as well as decreasing pain, anxiety, and stress. RMTs work with illness, injury, and disability in diverse and broad patient populations.

Starting with a thorough assessment, your RMT will work with you to design a treatment plan to address both short and long-term goals. Your treatment will be customized to your needs through a variety of techniques intended to achieve long-term health - whether that means relief from chronic pain, rehabilitation after an injury or surgery, or assisting your lifestyle and exercise goals. You will also be provided with relevant self-care in the form of strengthening, stretching and/or habitual changes intended to facilitate your road to health and empower you to continue your healing journey between appointments. We encourage our patients to play an active role in their recovery, and strongly believe that the most effective therapy is a team effort.

This is different for everyone! For some, this could be weekly appointments while we address acute injury. For others it may be every few months for maintenance. We will work together to determine the ideal follow up schedule for you; taking into account your condition and treatment goals, schedule, budget, and how much self-care you are able and willing to do between appointments.

For regular treatment, no referral is needed. If the cost of your appointment is to be covered by ICBC, WCB, VAC, or other extended health provider, check your plan details to determine if a referral is required for coverage.
